PharmaResearch (CEO Jihoon Sohn), a regenerative medicine company, announced on the 16th that it had participated in the 2025 Yangyang Saengsaeng Festival, held on April 5-6 and 12-13 at the Namdaecheon River in Yangyang, Gangwon Province, where it took part in a salmon fry release program.
The Yangyang Saengsaeng Festival is an annual ecological conservation event organized by the Yangyang Cultural Foundation and supported by the East Sea Life Resources Center of the Korea Fisheries Resources Agency. The festival aims to raise awareness of the importance of local biodiversity and encourage reflection on the value of life.
As part of the festival, PharmaResearch employees took part in the “Baby Salmon Release” program, which aims to help restore salmon populations.
PharmaResearch’s salmon fry release marks the beginning of a journey that embodies the cyclical value of salmon. The released salmon fry will mature while migrating through the North Pacific Ocean, eventually returning to the Namdaecheon River in Yangyang, after traveling nearly 20,000 kilometers, to spawn.
PharmaResearch extracts high-purity DNA from the testes and sperm of salmon returning to the Namdaecheon River, which is used to produce medical devices, pharmaceuticals, and dermacosmetic products. This process of adding new value to previously discarded resources reflects PharmaResearch’s environmental philosophy.
A PharmaResearch representative commented, “Our salmon conservation efforts are in line with our commitment to the cyclical use of biological resources, extending beyond mere ecosystem protection,” adding, “We will continue to engage in social responsibility initiatives to foster coexistence with the ecosystem.”
In addition, PharmaResearch participated in the release of adult homing salmon with the Korea Fisheries Resources Agency(FIRA) last November and has been contributing to the restoration of domestic salmon populations through its annual salmon fry release activities.
